These are a mix of tools to help promote safe sleep in the community you serve by using your organization’s social media platform, website, and other means to promote safe sleep.

We created graphics and social media messages for others to use on their own channels to help spread awareness about safe sleep practices. Below are step by step instructions on how to use the toolkit from a desktop or a Smartphone:
How to do it from a desktop:
Desktop Instructions:
- Select and click a photo. The photo will enlarge on your screen.
- On your mouse, right-click to bring a menu of options.
- Select “Save As.” You will be prompted to locate a place on your computer network to save the image file. You’ll save the SafeSleepNC image somewhere in your files on your computer.
- Now, open up your social media page (be sure you’re logged in).
- Begin a new post and look for the photo icon to upload a new photo to your post.
- You’ll be prompted to upload a new photo, so find the photo you saved on your computer network.
- Select the SafeSleepNC photo you saved in your files to add it to the post.
- Now copy and paste the drafted social media messages (found here) or write your own safe sleep message to include with the photo.
- Be sure to include SafeSleepNC.org and #SafeSleepNC in your posts!
How to do it from a Smartphone:
Smartphone Instructions:
- Select and click a photo. The photo will enlarge on your screen.
- On your phone, select “Add to Photos.” This will automatically download and store a photo into your phone’s general library.
- Now, open up your social media page (be sure you’re logged in).
- Begin a new post and look for the photo icon to upload a new photo to your post.
- You’ll be prompted to upload a new photo, so find the photo you just saved on your phone.
- Select the SafeSleepNC photo you saved to add it to the post.
- Now copy and paste the drafted social media messages (found here) or write your own safe sleep message to include with the photo.
- Be sure to include SafeSleepNC.org and #SafeSleepNC in your posts!

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is joining the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and other child safety organizations in the release of “Safe Sleep for Babies,” a new crib safety video aimed at helping all new parents avoid suffocation, strangulation and entrapment risks in the sleep environment.
